The Role IronMerge People is recruiting an Indigenous Business Partner on behalf of our client. Reporting to the GM Strategic Partnerships, this role is central to building strong, respectful relationships with local Indigenous communities and ensuring the organisation’s Indigenous Strategy is delivered in a practical, measurable way.
You’ll act as a trusted connector supporting reconciliation and diversity outcomes, providing cultural guidance to leaders and teams, and helping shape programs and engagement that genuinely reflect community expectations.
About The Role
Build and maintain relationships with local Indigenous communities, organisations, leaders, and JV partners, earning trust through consistent engagement.
Provide cultural advice to staff and management on protocols, sensitivities, and best-practice engagement.
Deliver (or coordinate) cultural awareness training and learning opportunities that lift cultural capability across the business.
Support the design and delivery of reconciliation, diversity, and Indigenous engagement initiatives aligned to the Indigenous Strategy.
Contribute Indigenous content for tenders and proposals, ensuring it is accurate, respectful, and locally relevant.
Support reporting cadence (monthly/quarterly) on KPI delivery and commitments, in partnership with the GM and leadership team.
Help coordinate cultural events and activities that recognise Indigenous heritage and strengthen reconciliation in action.
About You
Demonstrated experience in Indigenous relations/engagement, community liaison, or similar roles—building trusted relationships with community members, organisations, and businesses.
Strong stakeholder management capability, with clear communication and the confidence to engage across community, leadership, and operational teams.
Proven ability to design and deliver culturally appropriate programs, initiatives, and engagement activities.
Solid organisational and project coordination skills, with the discipline to manage priorities and follow-through.
Sound understanding of legislation, policies, and frameworks impacting Indigenous peoples and engagement outcomes.
Genuine commitment to reconciliation, cultural safety, and creating respectful workplaces where Indigenous voices are heard and acted on.
This position will require some travel to remote or regional communities when necessary.
A current valid driver’s license is required.
