The Role IronMerge People is recruiting an Indigenous Mentor on behalf of our client. Reporting to the Manager of Workforce Planning, this role plays a pivotal part in supporting frontline First Nations employees on site, strengthening cultural understanding, and ensuring open, effective communication between teams. You’ll be a trusted, visible presence—supporting day-to-day employee needs, contributing to culturally safe workplaces, and helping deliver reconciliation and diversity commitments in a practical way.
About The Role
Support the organisation’s commitment to Indigenous reconciliation and diversity across site operations.
Act as the first point of contact for First Nations employees on site, supporting enquiries and day-to-day guidance.
Support the SEED Cohorts program in conjunction with IronMerge (Specialist Indigenous Supplier), including delivering Cultural Awareness training on site when required.
Support Assessment Day workshops in partnership with Talent Acquisition.
Provide cultural guidance to leaders and teams on protocols, sensitivities, and best-practice engagement.
Complete internal monthly activity reporting, and contribute input to client reporting under the direction of the Workforce Planning Manager.
Attend community events and local networking opportunities to strengthen relationships and connection.
This position will require some travel to remote or regional communities when necessary.
A current valid driver’s licence is required.

Proven experience in a similar mentoring, engagement, liaison, or community-facing role.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work confidently with diverse stakeholders.
Demonstrated ability to deliver culturally appropriate support, programs, and/or initiatives in a workplace setting.
Solid organisational skills, including the discipline to maintain reporting requirements and coordinate across teams.
Practical understanding of cultural protocols, current issues, and what culturally safe engagement looks like day-to-day.
A genuine commitment to reconciliation and building respectful, culturally safe workplaces.
