The Role This role sits in the Estimating Team reporting into the Estimating Manager. As the Senior SMP Estimator, you will be responsible for compiling estimates and quote responses that are accurate, complete, and delivered on time. Your work will align with our client’s policies, procedures, and values, providing detailed information and calculations that support their continued success in securing new projects.
Your duties may include:
Reviewing project specifications, standards, drawings, and documentation to prepare high-quality tender proposals and detailed cost estimates
Conducting accurate SMP material take-offs
Preparing RFQs and sourcing material and subcontractor pricing to support comprehensive estimates
Coordinating and preparing subcontractor components for tender submissions
Drafting and issuing detailed subcontract agreements
Managing RFIs and clarifications with both clients and subcontractors
Presenting tender proposals to internal stakeholders and clients
Attending tender briefings, including occasional travel to remote sites as required
Reviewing tender documentation and developing technical submission content
Briefing operational teams on successful tenders and facilitating internal handover meetings
Supporting the overall tender strategy, internal approval processes, and contract negotiations
Ensuring adherence to the company’s quality management system and procedures
About You To be considered for this role, we’d love for you to have the following:
Tertiary qualifications in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
Strong understanding of SMP projects within the mining and oil & gas sectors, including key equipment and methodologies
A minimum of 5 years’ experience with a recognised contractor on large-scale construction, resources, or infrastructure projects
Prior exposure to E&I, SMP, or fabrication disciplines
Proficiency in reading technical drawings and documentation, with the ability to develop detailed cost estimates and tender submissions
High attention to detail with the ability to deliver accurate reports, schedules, and proposals under pressure
Advanced MS Excel skills are essential
